The Head of Financial Crime - Operations (Interim) is responsible for the day-to-day leadership performance and resilience of Shawbrooks Financial Crime Operations function.
The role ensures effective delivery of financial crime controls across multiple operational teams while enabling senior leadership capacity to focus on strategic transformation initiatives including delivery of the Financial Crime Orchestration Platform.
The role adds value by:
- Ensuring operational continuity and SLA delivery
- Strengthening governance MI and escalation quality
- Providing expert oversight of complex financial crime cases
- Embedding Shawbrooks values of accountability collaboration pragmatism and customer focus into operational decision-making
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day management and oversight of the Financial Crime Operations teams ensuring effective workload management and delivery against agreed SLAs.
- Monitor review and challenge Financial Crime Operations MI ensuring accurate reporting trend analysis and timely escalation of risks and issues.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex or high-risk financial crime cases providing expert guidance and operational direction.
- Support the consistent application of financial crime policies procedures and risk appetite across operations.
- Represent Financial Crime at relevant governance fora including forums covering MI escalations and risk decisioning.
- Maintain strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication decision-making and issue resolution.
- Support the uplift of operational capability through coaching knowledge-sharing and best-practice adoption.
- Ensure operational readiness during periods of change including system enhancements testing training and transition activities.
Qualifications :
Skills & Experience
- Experience in Financial Crime operations within a UK financial services environment.
- Strong working knowledge of AML CTF fraud and wider financial crime risk frameworks.
- Proven experience managing multi-team operational functions with competing priorities and SLA requirements.
- Demonstrated capability in handling complex financial crime cases and understanding complex customer or organisational structures.
- Experience producing interpreting and presenting operational MI for senior management and governance forums.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
- Clear confident communicator with sound judgement under pressure.
- Experience operating within regulated governance frameworks.
