Position Summary:
The City of OFallon is seeking a dynamic and creative Recreation Specialist Tourism & Festivals to join our team! This position plays a key role in planning organizing and executing special events and festivals that attract visitors and enhance the quality of life for residents. Key Responsibilities:
- Plan develop and implement city festivals and tourism-related events ensuring smooth execution and exceptional guest experiences.
- Recruit and coordinate vendors entertainers speakers and service providers.
- Manage event logistics in collaboration with internal departments and volunteers.
- Serve as Manager on Duty for multi-day events.
- Prepare and monitor event budgets contracts and vendor applications.
- Supervise part-time staff and volunteers during event setup and execution.
- Coordinate food vendors site layouts and operational logistics for major events such as Heritage & Freedom Fest and Celebration of Lights.
- Oversee entertainment bookings and programming for city events.
- Maintain accurate records reports and evaluations for all events.
What Were Looking For:
- Knowledge of event and festival management principles.
- Strong organizational communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to supervise staff and volunteers effectively.
- Proficiency in budgeting contract management and modern office software.
- Ability to work in both office and outdoor environments including evenings and weekends as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Recreation Event Management Hospitality Tourism or related field.
- At least one year of experience in event planning or a similar role.
- Valid Missouri drivers license or ability to obtain one.
