Job Summary

The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) is the largest Fire Department in the United States and universally is recognized as the worlds busiest and most highly skilled emergency response agency. The Fire Department City of New York (FDNY) seeks a full time Document Scanning Technician in the Bureau of Health Services. Reporting directly to the BHS Director the successful candidate will:
assist in the departments ongoing document scanning initiative led by the Scanning/Record Retention manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
Preparing documents for scanning (i.e. removing paper clips verifying accuracy of each document) ensuring that all paper-based records are accurately prepared prior to scanning keeping documents and binders organized. Utilizing image scanning equipment to scan create high-quality images and index various types of documents.
Monitoring image creation and adjust scanning equipment and software as required in order to produce high-quality images.
Performing quality control and quality assurance of all scanned digital images.
Ensure proper naming conventions are used.
Indexing documents accurately under correct document type/file structure.
Preparing scanned documents for off-site storage or destruction

Qualifications :

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
