Job Summary
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water managing wastewater and storm water and reducing air noise and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country with nearly 6000 employees. DEPs water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the systems 2000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
The Bureau of Engineering Design &14 Construction (BEDC) currently has a portfolio of capital projects valued at $35B and another $13.6B projected over the next 10-year commitment plan. The projects BEDC implements allows DEP as a whole to continue to operate and maintain an exemplary water supply system.
BEDC seeks to hire a Project Manager Intern for the Wastewater Capital Program (WWCP) directorate projects located in Hunts Point and Wards Island WRRFs Bronx and Manhattan NY. Under the guidance of Senior Engineers will perform elementary project management work; assist with supervision of construction work at the Hunts Point and Wards Island Wastewater Resource Recovery Facilities located the Bronx and Randalls Island monitoring consultant and contractor performance coordinating and implementing the design and construction of capital projects; assist with the evaluation of technical issues design alternatives and/or proposals; and prepare technical reports and scopes of work for engineering projects.
In addition the summer intern will develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony.

Qualifications :
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program June - August each year.
