The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water managing wastewater and storm water and reducing air noise and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country with nearly 6000 employees. DEPs water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the systems 2000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
The Bureau of Engineering Design & Construction (BEDC) currently has a portfolio of capital projects valued at $35B and another $13.6B projected over the next 10-year commitment plan. The projects BEDC implements allows DEP as a whole to continue to operate and maintain an exemplary water supply system.
The BEDC Project Management Office (PMO) seeks to hire an Intern for the Cost Estimating Group (CEG) located in Queens NY. Under the guidance of a construction cost estimator the intern will perform elementary data collection and entry work to assist with the development and implementation of a unit price database; assist in compiling labor rate data; assist with the evaluation of consultant-provided cost estimates for completeness and consistency flagging discrepancies to senior staff; and assist with preparing quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
In addition the summer intern will develop a final presentation to display assignments they have been involved with while working as an intern at the DEP Interns Closing Ceremony.

Qualifications :
As of June of the Program year the prospective intern must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
