Job Summary

Legal Counsel (Intellectual Property & Commercial Law) Johannesburg R55 000 to R60 000 CTC

Counsel to lead intellectual property strategy commercial contracting and regulatory compliance across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and protect the organisations IP portfolio (patents designs trademarks) across its full lifecycle
Provide strategic legal input on technical and innovation-driven projects
Draft review and negotiate complex commercial contracts
Develop and implement legal strategies policies and compliance frameworks
Monitor regulatory developments and manage legal risk
Oversee legal governance and guide senior stakeholders

Key Requirements

LLB degree (required)
Minimum 8 years of experience in IP law (patents & designs) commercial contracts and regulatory compliance
Strong knowledge of litigation processes
Engineering qualification (electrical/electronic) is advantageous
Proven strategic analytical and leadership capability
Excellent communication negotiation and drafting skills
