Geotechnical Department Manager Auburn Hills MI Michigan P.E. Required
Location: Auburn Hills MI Hybrid (23 days in office remaining remote)
Salary: $120K $150K Bonus (up to 15%)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Department Manager to lead our Auburn Hills this senior leadership role you will oversee geotechnical engineering projects across industrial commercial and residential sectors manage budgets and staff and drive project delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a Michigan P.E.-licensed professional with strong leadership technical and business development skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the geotechnical engineering department including team performance mentoring and professional growth.
- Oversee project delivery including proposals scheduling resource planning and client communications.
- Develop and monitor departmental budgets track profitability and ensure financial performance.
- Collaborate with Business Development to drive new project opportunities and maintain client relationships.
- Ensure compliance with Michigan geotechnical codes regulations and QA/QC standards.
- Coordinate with architects civil and structural engineers to optimize project outcomes.
- Foster a positive collaborative work culture and promote staff development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Michigan P.E. license required
- 10 years of geotechnical/civil engineering experience with progressive responsibility
- Proven leadership in managing teams budgets and multi-disciplinary projects
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics foundation design slope stability and site development
- Proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g. PLAXIS GeoStudio Rocscience) and Microsoft Office
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in business development proposal writing and client networking
- Financial management skills: budgeting profitability analysis and collections
- Mentoring and professional development of junior staff
