About the Role:
Wunderlich-Malec Engineering a 100% employee-owned ESOP firm is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer with strong PLC and electrical control system expertise to lead complex automation and system integration projects. This hands-on role blends control system design programming and on-site troubleshooting across industrial automation and entertainment/manufacturing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead control system design from concept through commissioning including hardware software and network integration.
- Develop and program PLCs from scratch (Ladder Logic Structured Text; Rockwell/Allen-Bradley Siemens preferred).
- Design electrical panels perform power calculations and ensure compliance with client and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot start up and commission automated systems onsite.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams vendors and clients to optimize system performance and safety.
- Create detailed system and software documentation including schematics network layouts and test plans.
- Support safety-critical and regulated system design (SIL/PL concepts ASTM standards).
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field with direct controls experience.
- 810 years in controls/automation engineering for industrial or manufacturing projects.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming electrical design and system integration.
- Familiarity with Ethernet-based distributed I/O field devices and industrial hardware/software platforms.
- Strong organizational communication and technical problem-solving skills.
- Able to work onsite and travel up to 30% (typical 10%).
Preferred Skills:
- AutoCAD experience for electrical/control design.
- Knowledge of safety-critical environments (attractions regulated industries).
- Proficiency in multiple PLC languages beyond ladder logic.
