Description of Work

Position is located at Central Prison HealthCare Complex in Raleigh. The Correctional Behavioral Specialist I work in this class involves participation as a member of the Therapeutic Diversion Unit (TDU) Treatment Team with responsibility for implementation of treatment plans for particular offenders. The TDU serves to provide a therapeutic step-down program to divert offenders with mental illness from Restrictive Housing settings to general population or the community at large through the means of structured evidence-based behavioral health treatment and behavior modification. Within these units Correctional Behavior Specialists may offer group-based therapeutic programming administer specified assessment tools engage in counseling and de-escalation techniques to assist in supporting positive behavior and support overall offender progress toward individualized treatment goals. Correctional Behavior Specialists document offender interactions in the electronic health record and consult with fellow Treatment Team members. Additional duties may include collection and distribution of unit and/or offender data oversight of incentive-based behavior modification programs ordering and organizing therapeutic supplies and incentives regular rounds and therapeutic support provision within designated Restrictive Housing units and/or provision of related services to an additional facility behavioral health program.
This position may be assigned duties in one or more behavioral health programs within the facility as determined necessary by behavioral health management and related treatment needs. These programs may include general facility outpatient treatment specifically-designated outpatient unit-based treatment Residential Mental Health Day Treatment Therapeutic Diversion Unit and/or Inpatient Mental Health. While different in target offender population and specific treatment elements (e.g. admission/exit criteria therapy curricula activity assignment etc.) in all such programs Correctional Behavior Specialists may facilitate educational or skill-building activities offer group-based therapeutic programming administer specified assessment tools engage in counseling and de-escalation techniques to assist in supporting positive behavior and support overall offender progress toward individualized treatment goals. Correctional Behavior Specialists document offender interactions in the electronic health record and consult with fellow Treatment Team members. Salary Pay Range: $33902 - $59327

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.
