The Olive Branch Dementia Café is a relaxed friendly gathering place for people living with dementia and their family carers. Its a chance to slow down share a cuppa have a chat and enjoy meaningful moments together in a safe and supportive environment.
Were looking for caring enthusiastic volunteers to help make our café a warm and welcoming place. The café runs once a fortnight during school term time and is kept small so everyone feels comfortable and connected.
What Youll Be Doing
As a Dementia Café Volunteer youll:
- Welcome guests and help create a friendly inclusive atmosphere
- Serve refreshments and enjoy conversation over afternoon tea
- Join in simple enjoyable activities
- Help with setting up and packing up the space
- Offer companionship and support under the guidance of an experienced facilitator
No personal care is involved this role is all about connection conversation and community.
Who Were Looking For
You dont need special qualifications just a kind heart and a willingness to help.
This role would suit someone who:
- Is warm friendly and enjoys chatting with people
- Is patient empathetic and comfortable engaging with people living with dementia
- Is reliable and able to commit to a regular fortnightly session
- Enjoys being part of a team
- Has a genuine desire to make a positive difference for people living with dementia and their carers
Lived experience of dementia is welcome but not essential.
Time Commitment
- Tuesdays 1:00pm 4:00pm
- Every two weeks during school term time

- National Police Check
- Short informal interview
- Participation in orientation and training
