Frontend Engineer (Accessibility Specialist)

Woodbridge NJ 3 days a week onsite

Primary Focus: Angular & WCAG Compliance

Project Scope

The primary objective of this role is to audit remediate and validate our Angular applications to ensure they meet WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA standards.

Accessibility Remediation: Identify and fix accessibility violations within Angular components specifically addressing keyboard navigation focus management and color contrast.

ARIA Integration: Refactor existing UI components to correctly implement WAI-ARIA roles states and properties where native HTML elements are insufficient.

Automated & Manual Auditing: Use tools like Axe-core and Lighthouse alongside manual screen reader testing to ensure 100% compliance.

Technical Specification: Translate accessibility audit reports into actionable technical tasks and high-quality code.

Peer Reviews: Contribute code reviews with a specific lens on maintainable inclusive frontend architecture.

Qualifications

3-5 years of hands-on web development with Strong TypeScript and CSS/SCSS skills (including managing focus-visible styles and layout reflow).

WCAG Experience: Proven experience implementing WCAG 2.1/2.2 Level AA standards in a production environment.

Assistive Technology: Proficient in testing with screen readers (NVDA JAWS or VoiceOver).

Testing: Experience with front-end testing frameworks for accessibility regression testing.
