We have a great opportunity for a Utility Estimator in Riviera Beach FL. This individual is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for underground utility construction projects including water sewer storm drain lift stations water plants. This role analyzes project plans and specifications performs quantity takeoffs evaluates subcontractor and supplier pricing and collaborates with project managers and operations teams to support successful bids and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings specifications geotechnical reports and bid documents
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for underground utilities (pipe structures excavation backfill restoration etc.)
- Prepare complete cost estimates including labor materials equipment subcontractors and indirect costs
- Solicit analyze and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Identify project risks constructability issues and cost-saving opportunities
- Develop bid proposals pricing summaries and supporting documentation
- Attend pre-bid meetings site walks and scope review meetings as required
- Coordinate with project managers superintendents and engineers during job handoff
- Maintain historical cost data and estimating results
- Support change order pricing and value engineering efforts
- Ensure estimates comply with company standards safety requirements and contract terms
Compensation starting at $125000
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of underground utility construction methods and materials
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications
- Proficiency in estimating software and takeoff tools
- Solid understanding of production rates labor costs and equipment usage
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet bid deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Education & Experience
- Minimum 3 5 years of experience estimating underground utility or heavy civil projects
- Field experience in underground utilities is a strong plus
Working Conditions
- Combination of office and field environment
- Occasional travel to job sites and pre-bid meetings
- May require extended hours during bid deadlines
