Job Summary
Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in Brattleboro Vermont is seeking a dedicated and experienced full-time Staff Orthopedic Surgeon to join its dynamic Orthopedics team offering comprehensive musculoskeletal care and surgical excellence within a collaborative healthcare environment.
Job Description:
The Staff Orthopedic Surgeon will provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care to patients across the continuum including evaluation treatment surgery and follow-up. Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and evaluate orthopedic conditions through physical examinations medical history reviews and diagnostic imaging such as X-rays MRI and CT scans
- Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing both surgical and non-surgical approaches
- Perform a wide range of orthopedic surgical procedures including joint replacements fracture repairs arthroscopy and other orthopedic interventions
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care ensuring patient safety recovery and optimal outcomes
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including primary care providers physical therapists occupational therapists and rehabilitation specialists
- Participate in rotating on-call coverage as part of a full-time orthopedic service
- Maintain accurate timely and complete patient medical records including documentation of evaluations treatment plans and surgical outcomes
- Communicate effectively with patients families and healthcare team members regarding diagnoses treatment options and care plans
- Stay current with advancements in orthopedic surgery and apply evidence-based practices to clinical decision-making
- Participate in continuing medical education professional development activities conferences and workshops
- Adhere to ethical professional and regulatory standards including patient confidentiality informed consent and hospital policies
- Proficiency in orthopedic surgical techniques and procedures including familiarity with the latest advancements.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills to effectively assess and treat orthopedic conditions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish rapport with patients and collaborate with healthcare teams.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and patient safety.
- Dedication to ongoing professional development and staying updated with emerging trends and research in orthopedic surgery.

- Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days active) - REQUIRED * no exemption required at presentation
- CPR - (must be obtained prior to start) - REQUIRED * no exemptions
- DEA (must be obtained prior to start) - REQUIRED * no exemptions
- Valid Vermont medical license to practice as an orthopedic surgeon - REQUIRED
- CPR for Healthcare providers - REQUIRED
- Permanent Placement Fee $25K (note in Additional Submission Details field) - REQUIRED
