Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Power Systems Network Modeling Engineer role provides crucial support for network modeling activities enabling senior modelers to concentrate on strategic projects particularly the CIM 16 Upgrade. This position involves operational model development transmission network maintenance modeling tool enhancements and collaboration across various departments.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain operational models using the Network Model Management System (NMMS).
- Collaborate with the Network Data Support Working Group (NDSWG) on operational model data exchange and transmission network model maintenance within NMMS.
- Review generator and transmission equipment data submitted by resource entities.
- Coordinate with resource entities to resolve invalid or incomplete model data submissions.
- Manage and support transmission system modeling software infrastructure including database systems model data exchange interfaces and export formats.
- Develop and maintain modeling tools in C# and Java to validate transmission network data using electrical engineering principles including data comparison and integrity checks.
- Create and maintain SQL-based validation rules for operational and planning model data submissions.
- Support NMMS and MOD application upgrades including implementation of new functionality system patch reviews and server administration activities.
- Provide training and mentorship to members of the Engineering Development Program (EDP).
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Network Model Maintenance Network Model Coordination Resource Integration System Operations System Planning Forward Markets Client Services and Grid Applications Development.
- Review draft and present updates to Protocols Guides procedures and training materials related to modeling.
- Evaluate updates to NERC standards and assess impacts to modeling methodologies.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience with at least one programming language: C# Java or Python.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles related to power systems modeling.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and data validation skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Experience with SQL.
- Familiarity with Git BitBucket Jira or similar tools.
- Knowledge of electric utility industry standards and practices.
- Minimum 1 2 years of progressively responsible experience as a Power Systems Engineer or in a similar role (in addition to degree requirements).
- Experience within the electric utility industry.
