Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Clinical Decision Unit (ER) provides direct patient care functions under the supervision of a registered nurse performing clerical communication and other related duties to facilitate efficient department services. The CNA assists patients with daily living activities collects patient data and communicates patient status to licensed professionals.

Responsibilities:
- Assists patients with routine activities of daily living including range of motion ambulation positioning skin care linen changes feeding hygiene toileting and incontinent care.
- Collects urine stool and sputum specimens and processes them as needed.
- Obtains and records patient health data including weights vital signs pulse oximetry pain assessment and I&O.
- Communicates patient status and reports changes in patient condition to licensed professionals.
- Performs incentive spirometry and transports patients.
- Prepares rooms with necessary supplies and provides post-mortem care.
- Assists with patient admissions and discharges.
- Assists nurses in emergency situations.
- Maintains and cleans equipment.
- Performs oral and nasopharyngeal suctioning.
- Performs blood sugar finger sticks.
- Removes IV catheters per licensed nurse instruction.
- Performs EKGs (department specific responsibility).
- Answers unit phones and directs calls accordingly.
- Enters data into electronic medical database systems and documents patient care and related duties.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment and supply needs and reports equipment malfunctions.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- CNA license
- AHA BLS Provider CPR certification
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience in MS
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Locals preferred (within 75 miles of the facility)
Special Considerations:
- Mandatory float facility; resources are required to float at the facilitys discretion.
- Every other weekend / 2 weekends per month required.
- No RTO on weekends the day prior to or after a holiday.
- No holiday RTO.
- Maximum of 5 days RTO with no more than 2 consecutive :
- 3x12s 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- No block scheduling
- N/A call requirements
