Role Overview: We are seeking a Global Trade & Customs Compliance Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support global operations by ensuring trade compliance customs accuracy and scalable trade processes across regions. This role will serve as a strategic advisor and hands-on expert translating complex trade regulations into repeatable business processes data models and compliance logic.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in U.S. import regulations and global trade frameworks strong stakeholder communication skills and experience working within large complex enterprises. SAP GTS experience is a strong plus.
Provide subject-matter expertise in global trade customs compliance and international logistics across multi-country operations.
Interpret and apply U.S. import regulations including CBP requirements HTS classification Partner Government Agency (PGA) rules and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) programs.
Translate trade and customs rules into repeatable business processes governed workflows and analytics-driven decision logic.
Collaborate closely with data engineers architects and technical teams to validate trade rules compliance logic and data outcomes at scale.
Support audits internal reviews and compliance assessments; communicate effectively with executives auditors and operational teams.
Advise on trade automation solutions and compliance frameworks; contribute to the design or optimization of trade systems and controls.
715 years of experience in global trade customs compliance or international logistics.
Strong working knowledge of:
U.S. import regulations and CBP requirements
HTS classification
Partner Government Agency (PGA) rules
Free Trade Agreements (FTAs)
Proven experience converting regulatory requirements into operational processes rule libraries or analytical models.
Ability to work with large datasets validate compliance outcomes and partner effectively with technical teams.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage senior leadership auditors and cross-functional stakeholders.
Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or equivalent advanced trade certification.
Hands-on experience with SAP GTS trade automation platforms or compliance analytics systems.
Exposure to building governed data models compliance workflows or centralized rule repositories.
Background supporting large complex global enterprises (e.g. automotive manufacturing high-volume importers).
