CAD Draughtsperson Permanent Full-Time

Location Office-based in Derbyshire

Join a global leader in mineral processing. This engineering specialist excels in the design and manufacture of high-capacity equipment for the mining and quarrying sectors worldwide. Their expertise spans apron plate feeders and bulk ore sorting providing innovative and sustainable solutions for over 80 different minerals.

We are seeking a CAD Draughtsperson proficient in SolidWorks to join the design team. You will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings (DFM) managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and overseeing drawing approvals. This role requires a professional capable of maintaining high technical standards across complex heavy engineering projects.

Responsibilities but are not limited to

Create high-quality 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings across our varied product range primarily using SolidWorks
Manage production-related responsibilities including BOM (Bill of Materials) creation and manufacturing allocation utilising internal systems
Apply a deep understanding of heavy engineering specifically focusing on welding casting and machining methods
Lead the drawing checking and approval process to maintain high technical standards
Use the Microsoft Office suite to coordinate daily with internal departments and the wider global organisation
Multitask effectively to meet restrictive deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work

Experiences required

Qualified in a mechanical engineering discipline (HNC/HND) or a "time-served" professional with substantial industry experience
Significant experience within a mechanical engineering drawing office particularly dealing with fabrication precision gearboxes and heavy machinery
Previous experience using 3D CAD software is essential; while SolidWorks is preferred similar packages will be considered
Proven experience in heavy engineering or structural engineering (e.g. mining quarrying or recycling industries)
