Description

SUMMARY:

This position as a Principal Investigator- Archaeologist is a full-time position. The employee will be involved in both office and field responsibilities. The employee will function as part of a team under the direction of the Cultural Resources Program Manager supporting Providences clients across a variety of cultural resource projects. Responsibilities include contributing to proposal development budgeting scheduling and research design; preparing and reviewing site forms and technical reports; and ensuring projects are conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and professional standards. Field duties may include supervision of field activities such as conducting archaeological monitoring site recording pedestrian and subsurface surveys and data collection. Additional responsibilities may include laboratory analysis data management and other assigned project-related tasks.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge Skills and Abilities):

  • M.A./M.S. degree in Anthropology Archaeology or related field.
  • Must meet the Secretary of Interiors professional qualifications standards for archaeology and be an RPA or be eligible to become an RPA.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional archeological experience including demonstrated experience in cultural resource management (CRM) with prior experience in Southeastern United States.
  • Experience conducting and/or overseeing field crews including multiple crews on projects varying of sizes regions and agency type.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing technical reports site forms and project documentation.
  • Experience in artifact identification of both prehistoric and historic material for the Southeastern United States.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning coordination scheduling tracking budgets and resource management.
  • Familiarity with federal state and local cultural resource regulations including Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • Ability to work in both office and field settings including variable outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and tasks concurrently.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and field crews providing guidance on field methods documentation and professional development.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects under the supervision of the Cultural Resource Project Manager.
  • Mentor and manage junior staff taking an active role in their personal and professional growth and development.
  • Delegate project tasks effectively while monitoring workload progress and performance to ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.
  • Contribute to proposal development budgeting scheduling research design.
  • Supervise/Conduct fieldwork for Phase I II and III investigations and the associated laboratory artifact cataloging preserving and analyzing of material recovered during those investigations.
  • Prepare review and revise technical reports site forms and project documentation in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Ensure safety and quality standards policies and procedures are complied with.
