TheSchool of Architecture and Design (SoAD)at Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for a full-time position inArchitecture at the rank of Lecturer to begin in Fall 2026.
About the Position:
The successful candidate will contribute to a forward-looking design curriculum and play an essential role indelivering a high-quality educational experience for our students. Responsibilities include teaching lecture courses seminars and design studios across the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Coursework may include foundation-level design studios architectural representation and media history and theory and design research and methods as well as upper-level concentration studios seminars and lectures in areas such as historic preservation emerging technologies design/build landscape architecture community-engaged design and interdisciplinary design practices.
The standard teaching load for Lecturers is the equivalent of eight (8) 4-credit courses per academic year typically comprising one 6-credit studio and two 4-credit seminar or lecture courses per semester. Lecturers are not required to engage in research scholarship or service activities. Senior Lecturers are expected to perform service activities and carry a reduced teaching load equivalent to seven (7) 4-credit courses per academic year.
The new faculty member will also play an essential role in launching the graduate program in design and developing new graduate certificates thereby contributing to the future of design education at Wentworth.

About the Architecture Program:
Wentworths Bachelor of Science in Architecture (B.S. Arch) program offers a rigorous studio-centered curriculum emphasizing design technology and community engagement. Students explore architecture across scales functions and contexts with concentrations in Urbanism Emerging Technologies and Adaptive Interventions. The Architecture programs and faculty are deeply rooted in the Boston community and have a long history of partnering with community government and institutional organizations. Two required cooperative education experiences bridge academic and professional practice.
The Master of Architecture () is a NAAB-accredited STEM-designated program that prepares students to be leaders in a rapidly evolving profession. Through Global Research Studios and a structured thesis sequence students engage pressing challenges in the built environment through an international lens.

Position Details:
The position includes a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary. Benefits are described briefly HR: is expected that the salary range for this position is between $70000 and $81600. The low end of the pay range in all faculty searches is at the minimum salary for the rank per the collective bargaining agreement between Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Wentworth Faculty Federation Local 2403 AFT MA AFL-CIO (the Faculty Federation or Federation). The specific pay for this position will be determined by the University based on consideration of all relevant factors when and if it decides to extend an offer of employment. The range does not include any salary stipend from a named-professorship. Note that these are two-semester equivalent salaries.
This position comes with a 10% retirement contribution (no matching required) according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Wentworth Faculty Federation.
Wentworth uses a three-semester per year schedule. The faculty contracts are for two semesters (fall and spring) with optional summer teaching which is paid on a prorated basis of the provided two-semester salary. This means the annual compensation could reach 1.5 times the provided two-semester salary depending on the availability of summer classes.
Please be aware that any final offer for this position is contingent on the applicant providing valid I-9 documentation showing work authorization and identity. For those requiring H-1B sponsorship any offer of employment/filing of an H-1B petition will also be contingent on a determination that the petition is not subject to the $100000 fee under the Presidential Proclamation Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (effective Sept. 21 2025).

Required Qualifications:
A terminal degree in architecture (MArch) or a closely related discipline
Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching
Experience teaching design studios and/or related courses
Preferred Qualifications:
A doctoral degree and/or professional licensure in architecture
Record of excellence in pedagogy and curriculum development
Record of excellence in professional practice
Experience in interdisciplinary design practices
Experience in community-engaged design practices
Expertise in one or more of the following areas: foundational studios; architectural representation and media; history and theory; design research and methods; upper-level concentration studios and seminars; historic preservation; emerging technologies; design/build; and landscape architecture
Demonstrated flexibility in teaching to address diverse student needs and interests
