Job Summary
The Occupational Therapist evaluates administers and directs the administration of therapeutic procedures utilized in rehabilitation med as prescribed by a referring physician; establishes goals of Occupational therapy and re-assess patients progress at regular timely interval supporting findings with written documentation. Collaborates with inter-disciplinary team to improve patients outcomes while respecting patients privacy and rights.
Essential Functions
- Communicates effectively. Establishes and maintains two way communication with peers staff physicians leaders and administration.
- Communicates appropriate information to lead staff member supervisor manager or director in a timely manner.
- Maintains a clear neat and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Provides clear consistent and legible documentation.
- Demonstrates population appropriate competencies for all relevant patient populations.
- Accurately performs a complete occupational therapy evaluation and documents.
- Completely develops a comprehensive precise and well documented treatment plan that can be administered by other OTs or COTAs.
- Appropriately administers safe and effective treatment with corresponding documentation.
- Carefully re-assesses plan of care in appropriate time frame. Changes made as needed.
- Safely operates all treatment equipment.
- Establishes priorities for maximizing productively.
- Accurately and legibly reflects billing in documentation.
- Participates in orienting new staff. Serves as a mentor to students.
- Accurately collects improvement performance data as directed.
- Actively participates in the development and implementation of process improvements.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree graduate of accredited OT program required
- Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy preferred
- 2-4 years experience in Occupational Therapy preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- In-depth understanding of therapeutic procedures and rehabilitation medicine to evaluate and administer effective treatments.
- Ability to assess patients conditions and establish appropriate occupational therapy goals.
- Strong skills in documenting patient progress and therapeutic outcomes accurately.
- Ability to work effectively with an inter-disciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.
- Knowledge of patient privacy regulations and a commitment to upholding patient rights.
- Expertise in various rehabilitation techniques and adaptive equipment.
- Ability to analyze patient progress and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with patients families and healthcare teams.
- Skill in identifying challenges and developing effective solutions for patient care.
- A caring attitude to provide support and encouragement to patients during their rehabilitation journey.
Licenses and Certifications
- OT - Occupational Therapist Registered Valid State Specific OT license required
- BCLS - Basic Life Support Current American Heart Association BLS preferred
