Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated enthusiastic and motivated Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Reading starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Key Stage 1 teacher who is passionate about supporting young learners during a critical stage of their education and helping them develop confidence independence and a love of learning.
The school has a strong community ethos and a supportive leadership team that values collaboration creativity and staff wellbeing. Teachers are encouraged to deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that inspire pupils and support their academic social and emotional development.
As a Year 1 Teacher you will plan deliver and assess high-quality lessons across the curriculum ensuring that pupils consolidate their early learning skills and build strong foundations for Key Stage 2. You will provide pastoral support promote positive behaviour and create a structured inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the Year 1 curriculum
Assess monitor and track pupil progress effectively
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils including SEN and EAL
Promote positive behaviour independence and resilience
Create a stimulating inclusive and structured classroom environment
Work closely with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues
Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
Contribute to planning sessions staff meetings and school initiatives
Support pupils personal social and academic development
Follow safeguarding health and safety and school policies
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Have recent experience teaching KS1 ideally Year 1
Be organised enthusiastic and reflective in practice
Have strong classroom management and planning skills
Be a positive team player with excellent communication skills
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
