Job Summary

Our client a leading Manufacturing company based in Port Shepstone is looking to fill the position of Mechanical Inspector.

Purpose of the Role:

Reporting to the Preventive Maintenance Manager the successful incumbents will be required to measure and assess equipment condition analyse trends and identify maintenance needs taking into account production constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of equipment To use tools such as vibration and oil analysis non-destructive testing such as measurements on chain wear conveyor belt hardness and liner thickness SAP problem and cause analysis Plant downtime reports and plant MIS to ascertain the status of equipment.
  • Planned inspection of all equipment including safety checks and initiation of work orders accordingly To liaise with engineering plant personnel on all inspections as required by the ISO quality management system such as calibration the safety inspections and coordination of Government AIA such as the testing of the pressure vessels and lifting equipment transformer maintenance and Electrical equipment.
  • Preventive schedule maintenance - To continuously improve on the maintenance schedules using the reliability-centred maintenance technique (RCM).
  • Validate and update equipment specification files and history on CMMS - To systematically record and analyse equipment information such as technical specifications on SAP to optimize the use of the computer maintenance management system.
  • Repetitive problem communication to eliminate failure re-occurrences - To prevent the reoccurrence of failures by identifying the root cause and finding solutions to eliminate the causes.
  • General - Perform standby duties as a Management Official work overtime from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Matric/Grade 12 with Mathematics
  • Either recognised Trade Test with a minimum of NTC 4 in a Mechanical Engineering discipline with 5 years maintenance experience in heavy engineering OR
  • A SAQA-Accredited B-Tech Degree / National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years experience in maintenance systems.
  • Experience as a Mechanical Inspector will be an added advantage.
  • SAP training and experience MS Office and spreadsheets knowledge.
  • Basic Computer literacy.
