The University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing (IHC) is recruiting for tenure-track data science-focused faculty (PhD or MD) with expertise in one or more of the following: learning health systems pragmatic clinical trials population health therapeutic target discovery health economics outcomes research community-engaged clinical research health equity research real-world evidence generation.
The UM-IHC is a large-scale initiative focusing on computational and analytical methods to build a learning health system for improving the quality of life and longevity of the citizens of Maryland. The UM-IHC located in North Bethesda MD is a collaborative effort of the University of Maryland Baltimore the University of Maryland College Park and the University of Maryland Medical System funded with initial grants from the State of Marylands MPower initiative and Montgomery County MD. Key foci of the Institute include population health clinical trial innovation data analytics therapeutic target discovery and education and training. Applicants with an outstanding record of research accomplishments publications and external funding commensurate with their academic stage are encouraged to apply.
The selected candidate will collaborate with other faculty members at the University of Maryland School of Medicine the University of Maryland College of Computing Mathematical and Natural Sciences and other schools of the University of Maryland System as well as physicians and data scientists from the University of Maryland Medical System. Faculty applying should be versed in computational methods to advance health sciences research with an emphasis on clinical implementation and prospective testing of new methodologies. They should have experience leading a research program with a track record of securing independent extramural funding and publishing senior author manuscripts. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise and mentor staff and fellows within the UM-IHC and may provide clinical service in their selected field.
Qualified candidates will contribute to the research teaching and/or clinical missions of the University sustain an externally funded individual research program consistent with the School of Medicines vision and enhance research opportunities for other School of Medicine faculty and trainees. If the candidate will provide patient care through clinical responsibilities a medical degree from a recognized accredited university (or foreign equivalent) is required and candidates must be BC/BE and eligible for a license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland.
Expected faculty rank for this position is Assistant Professor or higher however final rank tenure status and salary will be commensurate with selected candidates qualifications and experience.
