The MUSC Wellness Center is seeking a MUSC Student- Certified Pilates Mat Instructor to lead members and guests through high quality Pilates sessions for adults ages 18 and older. Job Description
Key Responsibilities
(30%) Lead Group Pilates Mat Classes
Deliver wellstructured and motivating Pilates mat classes according to the assigned schedule ensuring sessions are inclusive engaging and aligned with Wellness Center standards.
(30%) Develop and Teach Safe Effective Class Formats
Create or deliver class formats that are appropriate for a wide range of participants including beginners and experienced practitioners. Class members may vary in age (1880) physical ability and fitness level.
(20%) Assess Participant Needs
Observe participants and offer modifications progressions and alternative movements as needed. Ensure individuals are positioned appropriately within the class based on ability and safety considerations.
(10%) Communicate with Supervisor
Meet with the supervisor as needed to provide updates discuss recommendations and address any concerns or program needs.
(10%) Teach OffSite Classes as Needed
Occasionally lead Pilates group exercise classes at offsite locations in the surrounding Charleston area.
Requirements
Prior experience in Group Fitness Personal Training or Corporate Health & Wellness with the ability to teach Pilates-based movement formats.
Current nationally recognized Pilates Mat Certification.
Strong professional communication skills including appropriate vocabulary and grammar when interacting with members guests and colleagues.
Knowledge of the fitness and wellness industry with the ability to build rapport engage participants and foster a welcoming class environment.
A genuine passion for helping clients achieve their health and fitness goals increasing class participation and offering movement variations to support all levels.
