Role Purpose: TheData Quality Analyst will play a key role in ensuring a single trusted version of customer data exists across the organisation. They will ensure the highest standards of data quality and work closely with a diverse set of stakeholders to deeply understand our data enabling analysts and other data professionals to access the right data in the right way. The role sits within the central Data function and works in partnership with the Data Quality Manager to deliver the data quality strategy and operating framework ensuring it aligns with the broader business objectives of B&Q.

Whats the job

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Identify and mitigate data quality issues across all stages of the data lifecycle ensuring problems are resolved at source wherever possible
  • Triage data quality issues assessing impact and priority using agile practices to balance analytical needs and value drivers
  • Maintain and update the data quality log ensuring progress and resolutions are clearly documented and all stakeholders are up to date with progress
  • Work alongside the Data Quality Manager and collaborate closely with Tech and Kingfisher to deliver the data quality framework and roadmap ensuring good quality data is accessible and usable across the organisation
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of a strategic approach to data quality by defining and establishing effective monitoring processes using appropriate tools and methods to ensure standards remain consistently high
  • Providing data quality expertise throughout development of new data assets and offer guidance and support to colleagues on data quality best practice
  • Proactively assess and recommend improvements to data capture and wider business processes
  • Contribute to development and maintenance of the data glossary data quality rules and data lineage documentation.
  • Be an active member of the wider data community across the group engaging with the group data team and other banners across the group

What we need:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Skilled in SQL with some additional experience in languages such as Python or R preferred
  • Experienced in using cloudbased analytical platforms including Databricks Snowflake Google BigQuery and similar tools
  • Enjoys working with data and demonstrates strong analytical and problemsolving abilities
  • Experienced in conducting complex multiroot cause analysis and applying an inquisitive hypothesisdriven approach to uncover and resolve underlying issues in collaboration with others
  • Communicates clearly and confidently building effective relationships across diverse teams and engaging both technical and nontechnical stakeholders to drive resolution
  • Highly curious and motivated to understand how things work consistently seeking to uncover the nuances behind business processes and data behaviours
  • Shows strong attention to detail and takes the time needed to ensure accuracy in all work
  • Comfortable making progress without having the full picture while maintaining awareness of potential risks
  • Understands and maximises the value of data acting with a commercial mindset to prioritise impactful and useful outputs
