Job Summary

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. The School which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University Singapore in partnership with Imperial College London LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research. The Schools primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise facilities and teaching. The School is transitioning to an NTU medical school ahead of the 2028 successful conclusion of the NTU-Imperial partnership to set up a Joint Medical August 2024 we welcomed our first intake of the NTU MBBS programme that has been recently enhanced to include themes like precision medicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare with an expanded scope in the medical humanities. Graduates from the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine with an emphasis on technology data science and the humanities.

The SG100K study isa landmark longitudinal population cohort study of 100000 Singaporeans from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The SG100K study has emerged as a key strategic resource for epidemiological and precision medicine research in Singapore and is funded by the National Medical Research Council (NMRC) the National Research Foundation Singapore (NRF) the National Precision Medicine Program as well as industry and philanthropic sources. The SG100K study is hosted by the Population and Global Health Research Group @ Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine and National Precision Medicine Singapore.

We are looking for a Research Assistant to support Assistant Professor Theresia Mina in Health Informatics & Chronic Disease Epidemiology.

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Assist with administrative duties and data collection of eating behavioural projects or other projects led by the reporting officer with the other team members. This includes but not limited to recruiting and screening study volunteers from our Health Screening Centre (up to 40 participants can be approached per day) and/or via emails or phone calls; participant scheduling welcoming participants taking consent administering standard meal according to study SOP administering the electronic questionnaire performing dietary recall and completing data entry and/or clean-up and/or analysis amongst others. The work is part of a very busy fast-paced clinical environment akin to polyclinics or further details please visit our study website: with biological sample collection storage extraction and shipping that are required for independent projects led by the reporting officer under the guidance of the SG100K Study biobanking team. Biological sample collection may include (but not limited to) blood urine and saliva.

  • Assist with procurement paperwork and other administrative duties for example setting up administrative workflow extracting and securely distributing data for research collaborators in line with PDPA and good data practice managing data-related queries from collaborators.

  • Assist in data analysis/ manuscript writing in abovementioned projects or other relevant projects led by the reporting officer with the other more senior team members including but not limited to PhD students research fellows and others.

  • Assist in building executing and monitoring of Quality Control platform of behavioural epidemiology data from various ongoing studies.

  • Assist in providing ad-hoc summary statistics report and related information for esteemed stakeholders including but not limited to maintaining study website being involved in Participant-Public Involvement exercise and many others. See for further details of our past activities.

Key Competencies and Requirements:

  • BSc degree in biological sciences/health sciences/ clinical sciences/ epidemiology/ biomedical sciences or related field

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in data analytics using SPSS/SAS/Stata or similar platform

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience through internship/ exchange program/ others / technical hands-on experience in clinical study / behavioural experimentation / human biological sample handling / or related projects.

  • Familiarity with Good Research Practice Good Data Practice PDPA

  • Competent in soft skills / general personality traits e.g. information visualization interaction design

  • Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Interested to pursue PhD or higher degrees.

  • Experience in syntax writing/ coding/ R or related language is advantageous but not compulsory

  • Experience working with large-scale clinical research data or survey data is advantageous but not compulsory
