Position Summary
Responsible for BMCC Baker receptionist and clerical duties occurring during assigned shift as needed. Performs all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in the BMCC Mission Vision and Strategic Plan.
Essential Functions
Greets the public and answers telephone calls; assists students staff and the public with questions giving information as appropriate; routes calls and walk-ins to appropriate personnel; takes and delivers messages.
Opens and closes the building (depending on work schedule) at the beginning and end of the day.
Check doors periodically during working hours. Is aware of use and security of building and contents during working hours.
Monitors heat air lights security system. Requests for repairs and adjustments as needed.
Monitors the use of all office equipment including the copy machine.
Is familiar with the scheduled room use for classes and assists students and instructors in those areas. Also assists outside groups using the facility for meetings or trainings.
Coordinates efforts with Office Specialist and assists with filing typing computer entry and student/staff communications as necessary.
Register and receive tuition payments for students into their requested classes.
Enter all registration data into the mainframe system according to the procedure.
Assists instructors and staff with the operations of interactive video conferencing (ZOOM).
Maintain the confidentiality and security of protected student information in accordance with FERPA regulations.
Perform light maintenance or janitorial duties as needed.Submit helpdesk requests for general maintenance needs.
Maintains sensitivity understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment inclusive of students faculty and staff of varying social economic cultural ideological and ethnic backgrounds.
Other duties as assigned.
Other Aspects of this Position
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule MondayFriday 8:00 am to 9:00 pmand weekends as needed. Hours are subject to change based upon the needs of the office.
Must be able to lift boxes of 20 to 30 pounds.

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and within college policies and procedures.
Must be well-organized be able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills. Must understand possess and use a high level of customer service when dealing with all constituents of the college.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word Excel and Outlook.
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Assists with student registration and collection of fees. Input registration information in the administrative system. Enters fee information into Accounts Receivable and balances daily receipts.
Ability to effectively and efficiently use BMCC Enterprise Resource Planning and Learning Management Systems.
Must be able to type and keyboard accurately. Approximately 40 words per minute preferred.
Must possess knowledge of or be willing to learn and apply within 60 days of hire Federal Student Financial Aid regulations and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.
Once learned must effectively apply knowledge of office and College policy and procedures.
An alert sense of security and awareness of physical surroundings required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
Required Education and Experience
High school education or equivalent.
At least one (1) year of prior receptionist or office experience.

Part Time:
Work Schedule:This is a part-time position up to 29 hours per week as needed.Must be willing to work a flexible schedule MondayFriday 8:00 am to 9:00 pm and weekends as needed. Hours are subject to change based upon the needs of the office.
Sick Leave:Part-time employees earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked.
Tuition Waiver:Part time employees are eligible for one class tuition waiver per term. The waiver is for up to four (4) credits employee is responsible for all associated fees and additional credits.
Pay: $14.70/hour
