Job Summary
The Bellevue City Attorneys Office is seeking a passionate and skilledLegal Office assistant to support the Prosecution Division with a focus on direct assistance to crime victims and witnesses in non-domestic violence cases. The Prosecution Division prosecutes gross misdemeanors simple misdemeanors and civil infractions which occur within the city as well as appeals. The successful candidate should be able to perform a variety of routine and complex clerical and administrative support work focused on providing information and assistance to non-domestic violence crime victims and witnesses.
To be the successful candidate you will need to demonstrate self-awareness be effective in a variety of communication settingsand be able to work independently while managing a large variety of assignments with minimal direct supervision. You will need to be able to respond with the appropriate level of urgency to a diverse set of circumstances take effective action with limited knowledge and be a creative thinker and proactive in problem solving. You must be flexible team and client-service focused have great attention to detail and have strong organizational skills. It is essential that you can work well with people at all levels with a high degree of professionalism integrity and discretion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Be the primary point of contact for crime victims and witnesses in non-domestic violence cases. Interact directly with these victims and witnesses via various methods including telephone calls and emails.
- Provide accurate and reliable information to victims and witnesses regarding criminal filing decisions case progress court date scheduling dispositions and crime victims rights.
- Schedule and arrange interviews of victims and witnesses by prosecutors and/or defense attorneys.
- Schedule and arrange witness testimony at trials and motion hearings. Attend court as appropriate in a supportive role for victims and witnesses.
- Collect and update information regarding restitution. File restitution paperwork with the court and schedule court hearings regarding restitution.
- Work professionally and effectively with outside agencies such as the Bellevue Police Department and the King County District Court.
- Respond to inquiries from employees citizens and others; making referrals to appropriate personnel when needed.
- Engage in continuous learning by taking advantage of various training opportunities to hone current skill set while developing new skills and knowledge.
- Perform general administrative duties and office tasks such as answering phones calendaring filing and document tracking.
- Provide back-up for other Prosecution administrative staff.
- Perform other work as assigned.

- Works under moderate to general supervision.
- No formal supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
- Graduation from high school or a GED equivalent.
- Four years of clerical/office work with a minimum of two years of it as legal office work.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with technology.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Office programs Word Excel SharePoint Outlook and Access.
- Intermediate to advanced skills with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Experience working with case management systems/software preferred.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Requirements
- Working knowledge of computers and case management programs.
- Working knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and legal format.
- Working knowledge of the state court systems.
- Ability to assemble data.
- Ability to effectively meet and communicate with the public.
- Ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to handle a high-volume workload with fast turn-around times while maintaining a quality work product.

Flexible/Hybrid Working:
A hybrid work schedule is available for this position after an orientation period working in the office after hire. Remote work for this position is subject to departments operational needs and will be discussed with candidates during the selection process. Full-time remote work is not an available option. Once hired employees must reside in the State of Washington and within reasonable commuting distance to Bellevue City Hall.
