Requirements

The Charge Nurse Level 1 supports the daily operations of the veterinary surgery department by coordinating patient flow assisting with surgical care and maintaining a safe organized clinical environment. This role also helps manage staff scheduling needs and provides training and guidance to support team development and consistency in patient care.


Patient Care & Surgical Support

  • Assist with patient intake surgical prep anesthesia induction support and recovery monitoring
  • Monitor hospitalized and post-operative patients reporting changes to the medical team
  • Ensure accurate documentation of treatments vitals and patient status

Workflow Coordination

  • Support daily work flow by coordinating patient movement between prep surgery and recovery
  • Communicate with veterinarians technicians and client service teams to maintain schedule efficiency
  • Help troubleshoot delays or workflow issues and escalate concerns to leadership when needed

Clinical Operations

  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of surgical prep treatment and recovery areas
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned maintained and functioning properly
  • Follow all safety anesthesia and infection-control protocols

Team Support

  • Provide guidance and support to assistants and other nursing staff as directed
  • Help train new team members on patient handling workflow and clinic protocols
  • Promote a positive collaborative and professional work environment
