About you and this role

Dows Consumer Solutions Elizabethtown production facility in Elizabethtown KY has an opening for an Improvement Engineer. The Elizabethtown Site is the largest Consumer Solutions Finishing site in the US and is a global supplier of silicones in the advanced construction market as well as automotive and electronics sectors.

As the Improvement Engineer you serve as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical and organizational skills to drive the plant level continuous improvement program targeted at delivering maximum value from the assets while continuously improving process safety and production efficiency. This role requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Possess in-depth process technology and continuous improvement skill sets helping to establish credibility with the operations team.
  • Drive knowledge exchange with technology experts to increase awareness of potential improvement opportunities for the technology.
  • Partner with the experts to develop and implement a Plant Specific Technology Plan that delivers positive year-over-year ROC (return on capital) and non-capital continuous improvement while meeting the plant level EH&S improvement goals.
  • Champion process safety activities and acts as a resource for relevant process safety concerns. Partner with plant operation and maintenance personnel to identify and track performance indicators to be used in identification of technology gaps and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support the facility root cause investigation process by serving as a team member or facilitator for incidents related to process technology. Lead and support plant continuous improvement activities aligned to the PSTP and also support the capital plan for the facility. Lead continuous improvement activities for the facility and may serve in specific GPM related roles of project manager or manufacturing representative.
  • Champion the next unplanned event exercise for the plant and ensure potential solutions are captured in the appropriate prioritization system.
  • Serve as the implementation arm of the technology center.
  • Participate in the on-call program for plant immediate response and advising similar to other day support roles.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelors degree in engineering required. (Chemical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Engineering Civil Engineering or Material Science / Metallurgical Engineer preferred).
  • At least 3 years engineering manufacturing or related experience required.
  • Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

  • Process Technology Expertise: Ability to understand analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve safety reliability and efficiency.
  • Continuous Improvement & Problem-Solving: Strong capability to identify gaps lead investigations and execute improvement initiatives aligned with plant goals.
  • Collaboration & Cross-Functional Communication: Skill in partnering effectively with operations maintenance and technology teams to drive improvements.
  • Project Management: Ability to plan coordinate and lead improvement or capital projects serving in roles such as project manager or manufacturing representative.
  • Process Safety Leadership: Knowledge of process safety principles and demonstrated ability to champion safety initiatives and support incident investigations.
