Charles R. Drew University is located in the Watts-Willowbrook area of south Los Angeles and was founded in 1966 in the wake of the Watts uprising. CDU was founded to address inadequate medical care in the region and to provide equitable medical education opportunities for underrepresented students.
CDU is strongly invested in the local and regional community. The university leads multiple partnerships and programs to provide equitable healthcare resources in a variety of South Los Angeles neighborhoods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Input maintain and ensure the correctness of data of standard departmental documents Power Campus student service system.
- Assist students and department coordinators with registration questions and assistance with forms.
- Monitor the Registrar and VA emails.
- Transcript and education verification processing.
- Maintain records check data and prepare standard reports.
- Maintain records and source documents in an orderly manner for data input and audit purposes.
- May create correspondence and data control logs and may assist with routine clerical work as workload permits.
- Follow up on specific inquiries and/or collect information from others regarding a project or activity.
- Responds to requests for information in person via e-mail and over the phone; takes and transmits messages; answers department questions and provides information.
- Plans and organizes upcoming department events and information sessions.
- Organize own work set priorities and meet critical time deadlines.
- Provide general administrative support to the Registrars Office by answering telephones routing telephone calls ordering office supplies filing printing distributing mail and responding to general telephone inquiries.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs other Records & Registration Office duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
EDUCATION:
- Associate degree or equivalent required; and/or equivalent of combined education and experience in the related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- 2-4 years of clerical or administrative experience preferred in a college or University setting.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY/SKILLS:
- Previous Data Entry experience with a typing speed of at least 50 words per minute.
- Effective accurate and clear communication with excellent verbal written interpersonal reading phone and customer service skills.
- Strong knowledge of FERPA regulations with the ability to maintain student confidentiality in compliance with federal FERPA laws.
- Foster good relationships with students faculty staff and the general community
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel (Advanced word-processing spreadsheet and data entry skills)
- Proficient in using PowerCampus with the ability to train others.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent telephone manners.
- Extremely detail-oriented; strong organizational skills.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality practices of records and student information.
Compensation:
- $27.23 per hour - $30.52 per hour

- The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.
