Media Relations Director

Radiant is an El Segundo CA-based startup building the worlds first mass-produced portable nuclear microreactors. The companys first reactor Kaleidos is a 1-megawatt failsafe microreactor that can be transported anywhere power is needed and run for up to five years without the need to refuel. Portable nuclear power with rapid deploy capability can replace similar-sized diesel generators and provide critical asset support for hospitals data centers remote sites and military bases. Radiants unique practical approach to nuclear development utilizes modern software engineering to rapidly achieve safe factory-built microreactors that leverage existing well-qualified materials. Founded in 2020 Radiant is on track to test its first reactor next year at the Idaho National Laboratory with initial customer deliveries beginning in 2028.

Were looking for a Media Relations Director to own Radiants external media presencefrom podcast bookings and journalist relationships to investor amplification and executive communications. This role is critical: despite Radiant having more substance competitors are seeking to out-hustle us on new media.

Youll be the primary interface between Radiant and the media world building relationships with podcasters journalists and newsletter writers who cover energy defense and technology. Youll prep executives for appearances coordinate amplification campaigns and ensure every major milestone gets the coverage it deserves.

What Youll Do

• Drive media coverage for Radianttargeting top-tier outlets podcasts shows and newsletters covering defense technology business government and energy
• Build and maintain relationshipswith reporters at those same publications
• Cultivate relationships with new media outlets newsletters and online publicationsthat reach our audiences
• Coordinate investor amplificationduring milestone announcementspre-briefing investors with draft posts and embargo timing to maximize reach
• Lead executive communicationsincluding developing talking points preparing executives for interviews and ensuring spokespeople are deployed to appropriate audiences
• Monitor media landscape and competitorstracking how other nuclear startups are positioning themselves
• Manage crisis communicationswhen Radiant or the nuclear industry faces negative coverage
• Track and report on media metricsincluding coverage volume sentiment share of voice vs. competitors and amplification reach

What You Bring

• 8 years in media relations communications or PRideally in technology energy aerospace or defense
• Demonstrated success booking executives on broadcast and top-tier podcasts and securing feature coverage from top-tier publications
• Existing relationships with journalists podcasters or media gatekeepers (or proven ability to build them)
• Experience preparing spokespeople for high-stakes media appearances
• Understanding of the new media landscapepodcasts newsletters social platformsand how influence flows through and across these channels
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work across time zones and accommodate media schedules

Bonus Points

• Existing relationships with defense energy or technology podcasters and media creators
• Experience with nuclear energy communications and the unique sensitivities involved
• Prior work with defense technology companies
