REPORTS TO: Chef/Food Production Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Appliance Mechanic will maintain and repair production equipment for the Nutrition Services department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalency certificate.
- Ability to speak read and understand the English language.
- Must have a valid Texas drivers license and a clear and acceptable driving record as determined by the Texas School Bus Drivers requirements.
- Minimum of five years experience in commercial refrigeration electrical (high and low voltage) and plumbing preferred.
- Current EPA universal certification required.
- CFC recovery skills required.
- Ability to lift and carry 75 lbs.
- Able to work different shifts or schedules to accomplish tasks.
- Food handlers certification required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
260 days
SALARY/PAYGRADE:
$30.71/NS-10
Salary(based on verifiable job-related experience) as set by the Board of Trustees for the school year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Install and repair all types of refrigeration cooking food production and laundry equipment.
- Inspect appliances to identify issues and determine the root cause of malfunctions.
- Select and order parts as needed for department.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on appliances to prevent future breakdowns.
- Maintain inventory of supplies such as spare parts and general maintenance needs.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations when handling electrical appliances and hazardous materials.
- Properly fill out work orders and other paperwork and turn in on a daily basis.
- Respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
- Repair/ Maintain Packaging Equipment.
- Operate/Maintain steam boilers.
- Operate/ Maintain Forklifts.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY:
All food service employees must use good body mechanics and follow safe working procedures including infection control. The employee must report any unsafe condition to a manager or supervisor and demonstrate no on-the-job injuries due to a lack of good safety practices. On-the-job accidents must be reported immediately to the manager or supervisor and an accident report completed.
