About this position

Processes embeds cuts and stains tissue sections for pathological examinations. Provides and communicates information to authorized sources.

Requirements

Education
High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Associate degree in Histotechnology or Laboratory Science from an accredited institution; or prior to April 24 1995 qualified as a technician according to CLIAs Grandfather provision or has equivalent experience and been deemed competent.

Experience

Experience
Minimum of one year current laboratory experience in a clinic or hospital preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to perform assigned histology duties which include embedding cutting and staining.
Ability to assist pathologist with gross specimen analysis.
Knowledge of common special stains.
Ability to operate laboratory computer system as appropriate

Licensure/Certification

ASCP or equivalent certification or eligible to sit for Board or Registry exam. Certification is required within 1 year of hire and maintained as a condition of continued employment.

Salary Range:N17 ($27.77 - $41.66) based on experience
