Purpose Statement

The Coordinator of James P. Lee ECLC and SunKids Preschool is done for the purpose/s of overseeing and coordinating the James P. Lee and SunKids programs. The Coordinator ensures that all students with IEPs receive high-quality legally compliant and developmentally appropriate services within a supportive learning environment. By bridging the gap between centralized services and elementary school sites the Coordinator fosters collaboration among staff families and the community to ensure a seamless transition for our youngest learners.

This job reports to the Director of Special Education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides daily administrative oversight for the James P. Lee specialized preschool center including facility safety staffing and student climate.

Monitors and evaluates the implementation of SunKids programs at various elementary school sites to ensure district-wide consistency in service delivery.

Leads the development and implementation of evidence-based developmentally appropriate curriculum tailored for preschool students with diverse special needs.

Regularly assesses program effectiveness through data collection on student outcomes and compliance metrics recommending adjustments to the Superintendent or Board as needed.

Collaborates with district leadership to forecast enrollment trends and plan for the expansion or contraction of SunKids satellite classrooms.

Ensures that all Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) are developed reviewed and implemented in strict accordance with state and federal mandates.

Acts as the district representative in IEP meetings ensuring parent rights are protected and legal timelines are met.

Manage the in by 3 mandate to transition students from early intervention into preschool. Ensuring no gaps in services.

Conducts formal observations and performance evaluations for certificated special education staff and classified support staff (instructional assistants).

Designs and facilitates targeted training for staff on topics such as behavioral intervention assistive technology and sensory integration.

Leads the interview and selection process for specialized staff ensuring candidates possess the necessary credentials and a student-first mindset.

Provides ongoing coaching to new teachers and specialists navigating the complexities of early childhood IEPs.

Coordinates the transition process (Early Start to Preschool) and the eventual transition from SunKids to Kindergarten.

Develops outreach programs and workshops for parents to support at-home learning and navigation of the special education system.

Oversees the implementation of Positive Behavior Support Plans across all Sunkids sites.

Manages the referral and assessment process for incoming preschool students to ensure timely placement and service initiation.

Facilitates communication between speech therapists occupational therapists physical therapists and nursing staff to ensure an integrated service model.

Manages the budget for James P. Lee and SunKids including the procurement of specialized equipment adaptive toys and instructional materials.

Coordinates with the transportation department to ensure safe and efficient bussing for preschool students with specialized mobility or medical needs.

Attend district meetings as required (K-6 Principal meetings All Administrative meetings SPED Leadership meetings)

Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Skills Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: analytical and critical thinking using computational techniques with a focus on applying district state and federal policies and regulations; operating standard computing equipment; performing standard searching and sorting techniques of digital information; preparing and maintaining accurate records; utilizing pertinent software applications; maintaining a strict and high level of confidentiality and ethics; being self-motivated and devoted; with excellent collaborative organization and communication skills.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic numeracy logic statistics including calculations using fractions percents probability inference and query language; read a variety of manuals write documents using native and numerical languages following prescribed formats and/or present information to others; and understand complex multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: script query sequel and programming logic.

ABILITY is required to schedule a significant number of activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and/or classify data; and use basic job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is

Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives; directing other persons within a department large work unit and/or across several small work units; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobs functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organizations services.

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting 25% walking and 15% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Experience:

Experience in a Pre-K-Early Childhood work environment

Education:

Masters degree or higher in Education

Certificates and Licenses:

Principal PreK-12 Certificate Required

Early Childhood Education and Special Education Certification (or endorsement) - Arizona Birth to Grade 3 Preferred

Clearances:

Criminal Background Clearance

Valid Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

FLSA Status -Exempt

Continuing Education/Training Clearances:

Maintains Certificates and/or Criminal Background Clearance Licenses
