DescriptionROLE SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for setting up operating or tending heating equipment such as heat-treating furnaces to temper harden or heat-treat metal objects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read production schedules and work orders to determine processing sequences furnace temperatures and heat cycle requirements for objects to be heat-treated.
- Record times in production logs and production system documenting the times parts start and are removed from furnaces to register that objects have attained specified temperatures for specified times.
- Adjust controls at the start and as needed to maintain temperatures and heating times using thermal instruments and charts dials and gauges of furnaces.
- Start conveyors and furnace loading docks to load materials into the belt furnaces.
- Set up and operate or tend machines such as furnaces that harden and heat-treat metal.
- Remove parts from furnaces after specified times inspect the product and support providing reports and samples of processed material.
- Move completed material to the next area where material will be processed or delivered.
- Maintain the organization and required 5S and Preventive Maintenance tasks following the companys programs and requirements.
- Support the training for new heat treat operators following the company quality and training standards.
QualificationsREQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Speak read and write English preferred
- Organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and work on a computer
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to create and maintain cooperative team building relationships.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Actively listen to instructions understand them and ask questions
- Monitors operations to ensure processing is working properly.
- Use of logic and reasoning to identify improvement opportunities and alternative
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide to calculate correct weight for each load.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience using computers and production systems.
- Experience working in a manufacturing company is preferred
- Forklift license preferred
