The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) seeks to increase the number of applicants for clinical nursing positions by offering a recruitment incentive to eligible Advanced Practice Nurse Nurse Consultant Nursing Supervisor Compliance Nurse Registered Nurse Licensed Practical Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistant candidates in accordance with the DHSS Recruitment and ReferralIncentive Program.
The program provides incentives as follows:
Recruitment incentives will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire and will begin after the first quarter of employment. New employees accepting this recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DHSS. You must be a new employee to the state to be eligible for this incentive.
Referral bonuses of $1000 are available to current DHSS employees who refer new hires to the state in the following classifications: Advanced Practice Nurse Nurse Consultant Nursing Supervisor Compliance Nurse Registered Nurse Licensed Practical Nurse and Certified Nursing bonuses of $1000 will be paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire of the referred applicant.
NOTE: This program is administered by the Department of Health and Social Services. The program may be terminated by the State at any time.
The Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the directsupervision of staff in the New Castle County Tuberculosis (TB) Clinicincluding planning assigning reviewing and evaluating staff performance. TheNursing Supervisor ensures adequate staff coverage to support the delivery ofhigh-quality timely and patient-centered public health services. This roleprovides or evaluates direct nursing care develops and reviews nursing careplans and delivers health education to individuals families and communitygroups. The Supervisor maintains effective working relationships withinterdisciplinary team members prepares reports and evaluations andparticipates in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities. Theposition supports the missions of the Department of Health and Social Servicesand the Division of Public Health by promoting health preventing disease andprotecting vulnerable populations primarily in TB prevention and control. Thesupervisor collaborates with internal and external partners monitors publichealth trends manages staff schedules and caseloads and ensures properdocumentation standards. As an essential employee and SHOC-designated staffmember the Nursing Supervisor may respond to public health emergenciesdisaster response activities and special operational needs. The role includesmaintaining emergency preparedness ensuring clinic operations run efficientlyand serving as a professional resource and mentor to Community Health nursingstaff. Regular contacts include staff nurses physicians healthcare agenciescommunity partners and administrative personnel to support coordinated careeffective communication and high-quality service delivery across CommunityHealth Services.

Applicants must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
Nursing Supervisor - Public Health Nursing
All new hires are required to attend an in-person statewide mandatory New Employee Orientation on their first day of employment. The session will be held at a designated location in either Kent or New Castle County.
