The General Manager is responsible for the development operation and improvement of manufacturing processes that best align staffing materials methods equipment environment safety and measurement to create the best value for the customers and markets served consistent with lean manufacturing principles. Additional responsibilities include leading and directing all functional and cross-functional efforts to achieve manufacturing unit objectives; providing team member leadership direction and individual development within the unit; providing project leadership to improve processes or systems; focus on continually improving processes in support of strategic plans and annual goals; directing operations unit and personnel within Placon established guidelines as related to the Placon Way policy vision values and financial plans; providing products and services to customers and markets that meet or exceed their needs for flexibility speed expected quality and planned cost; and coordination with Madison/corporate departments.
Essential Accountabilities
- Maintain a safe injury free and healthy work environment. Assure that training on safe work methods is provided on a timely basis. Clearly communicate safe work practice expectations and follow-up with all team members to assure understanding and compliance. Provide all team members access to the required personal protective equipment and monitor to assure compliance.
- Administer Placon policies and procedures including Human Resources General Business Product Safety (GMP) Safety and Quality Systems. Coordinate with Madison.
- Develop and maintain effective manufacturing practices policies and procedures that are within Placon organizational guidelines to achieve a work environment that encourages a high level of self responsibility; instills a desire for responsibility/accountability; encourages continuous improvement with lean methods and maintains high standards of housekeeping safety and professionalism. Communicate clear expectations to all team members and provide consistent leadership.
- Assure that effective quality systems are in place to achieve required product quality and maintain required certifications for the facility (such as ISO and /or SQF) process repeatability and reliability including: standard manufacturing practices updated work instructions and training documents preventive maintenance for equipment and tools process development work order closure document control and records.
- Develop and implement annual financial and manufacturing plans to achieve the manufacturing objectives of the unit including: Financial Budget Operations Dashboard objectives Continuous Improvement Plans and Profit Enhancement Plans. Communicate measures of performance and financial results to all team members and involve their effort in continuous improvement. Insure the achievement of Safety Quality and Operational goals.
- Provide operations and manufacturing support for Customer Business Reviews and lead efforts to initiate changes identified by customers and by service improvement teams. Provide cross-functional support by leading or participating in planning/implementation of key organizational projects identified in strategic planning major objective continuous improvement or other activities chartered by the company.
- Plan and implement improvements to processes as assigned in the corrective action systems. Complete corrective actions in a timely and effective manner.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree preferably in Engineering Industrial Technology or Business Management. At least 7 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
