This role is responsible for engineering electrical power distribution controls and automation systems for industrial heating cooling and utility applications within prospective projects. The Industrial Electrical Engineer provides ongoing technical consultation to support sales and business development efforts while collaborating closely with the project management team to successfully execute customer projects. This individual will also be responsible for developing comprehensive value-driven electrical and control system solutions for industrial facilities with an emphasis on power systems motor controls variable frequency drives and industrial automation.

Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive electrical design packages including low- medium- and high-voltage power distribution systems motor control centers (MCCs) grounding lighting and cable tray/raceway systems.
- Prepare review and maintain electrical deliverables such as one-line diagrams load lists panel schedules equipment sizing calculations and protective device coordination studies.
- Specify electrical equipment-including transformers switchgear MCCs VFDs and UPS systems-in collaboration with Hunton Trane project management procurement teams and vendors.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the design and construction phases supporting installation testing and commissioning activities.
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with applicable codes and standards including NEC NFPA IEEE NEMA IEC and project-specific requirements.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (process mechanical civil/structural instrumentation and controls) across the full project lifecycle.
- Review vendor drawings and submittals identify and resolve technical discrepancies and ensure alignment with project specifications.
- Participate in hazard analyses design reviews and client meetings as a technical representative.
- Support project execution through schedule coordination cost tracking and progress reporting.
- This is a full-time office-based position located at the Hunton Trane office in Houston Texas.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5-10 years of industrial electrical engineering experience preferably within an EPC or design-build environment.
- Demonstrated success delivering industrial or heavy commercial projects such as data centers petrochemical facilities power generation plants manufacturing facilities or water/wastewater projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution equipment protection systems and industrial electrical standards.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Revit SKM ETAP or similar power system analysis and design tools.
- Solid understanding of construction practices and field execution.
- EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or willingness to obtain licensure.
- Excellent communication collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites and vendor facilities as needed (estimated less than 5%).
