Outside IR35 - Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer (Contract) EfW Plant Central Belt Scotland
We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join our project team on a large-scale Energy-from-Waste (EfW) facility in the Central Belt of Scotland. This role is responsible for overseeing the safe commissioning energisation and handover of all electrical systems across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate all electrical commissioning activities for HV MV and LV systems.
- Manage energisation sequences and switching operations ensuring compliance with project safety standards and statutory regulations.
- Review commissioning documentation procedures test scripts and method statements.
- Oversee subcontractors and commissioning technicians ensuring high-quality delivery and adherence to programme milestones.
- Carry out functional testing FAT/SAT documentation review and support integrated systems testing.
- Identify and resolve technical issues during commissioning liaising closely with engineering construction and OEM vendors.
- Ensure all commissioning records test results and handover documentation are completed accurately.
- Support the development and implementation of Electrical Safe Systems of Work.
- Work collaboratively with the project commissioning manager to drive progress and maintain schedule performance.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Lead Electrical Commissioning role on EfW power generation process plant or similar heavy industrial projects.
- Strong technical background with HV/MV/LV electrical systems switchgear protection transformers and control systems.
- Experience reviewing commissioning packages and delivering structured energisation plans.
- Knowledge of electrical permitting LOTO and safe isolation procedures.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Relevant electrical qualifications (HNC/HND/Degree) and site safety certifications.
