INTRODUCTION:
New Path Youth and Family Services is an accredited childrens mental health agency providing a range of compassionate innovative and accessible services for children youth and their families throughout Simcoe County. New Path respectfully acknowledges we are situated on the traditional land of the Anishinaabeg people which includes the Odawa Ojibwe and Pottawatomi Nations collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
In keeping with the Provincial Quality Standard for Family Engagement empower and engage families as valuable partners in the co-development of projects services and processes that impact them.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Lead and co-facilitate the Family Advisory Committee with the support of your Supervisor including the promotion recruitment onboarding and ongoing engagement of advisory members. Along with the co-facilitator generate meeting agenda and ensure review and filing of meeting minutes. Annually review the Terms of Reference complete the Annual Summary conduct and review the Family Engagement Experience Survey and committee update form as required.
- Lead the annual WOW Awards including nomination forms collection selection committee deliberation and awards distribution/presentation with support from YAC and the People and Culture Manager.
- Represent a family voice by participating in co-design planning and implementation of various agency committees Annual Strat Plan Café Annual General Meeting and other agency events to ensure family voice is embedded.
- Represent family voice and share family engagement initiatives through connecting with Agency Communities of Practice where appropriate.
- Research and create content and tools to support family engagement (e.g. flyers checklists and collaborate with Communications Manger when appropriate to update on various media platforms.
- Use Mailchimp to create email campaigns and send out internal/external opportunities and resources for families to get involved through permission to contact lists following agency procedures. Regularly input new contacts to the contact list on MailChimp.
- Seek regular feedback (direct focus groups surveys) from families to continuously improve programs and services and remove barriers to participation in family engagement practices.
- Collaborate with the Board to develop their youth/family engagement strategy.
- Lead and plan other family engagement initiatives as appropriate.
- Provide updates and reports on family engagement to the agency.
- Manage meeting attendance payment expenses for the Family Advisory Committee and submit to finance to remit payment to participants.
- Attend training conferences and workshops relevant to family engagement initiatives to support safety inclusivity and best practices.
- Co-develop and continuously improve family engagement orientation for all family partners utilizing direct feedback and surveys.
- In collaboration with the People and Culture Department support recruitment and on-boarding of staff students volunteers and family partners.

- Lived experience as the primary caregiver of a child/youth who has accessed community-based or other child and youth mental health services.
- General knowledge of child and youth mental health services and family engagement best practices are an asset.
- Experience navigating the child and youth mental health system and knowledge of community resources within Simcoe County is preferred.
- Leadership experience.
- Strong engagement skills and strengths-based approach.
- Post-secondary qualifications are an asset.

- Embraces and advocates for youth and family engagement practices.
- Ability to quickly adapt schedule to accommodate various stakeholder needs.
- Co-creates safer spaces which everyone feels comfortable embraced and able to speak freely.
- Regularly advocates and makes improvements in existing systems and processes while encouraging others to do the same.
- Approaches problems from a solutions and strengths based perspective by reviewing the viable alternatives and determining the best course of action.
- Comfortable using multiple social media platforms.
- Takes initiative and achieves outcomes without having defined structures.
- Demonstrates awareness for the backgrounds values beliefs and traditions of staff clients families and communities we serve.
- Commits to ongoing training to build the knowledge awareness and skills that contribute to creating a culturally safe environment for staff clients and families.
- Confident articulate and professional when communicating verbally and in writing
- Seeks opportunities to continually increase knowledge and skills related to family engagement practices and other relevant areas.
- Able to use Outlook email Microsoft Word for document writing.
- French language certificate (DELF B2) is an asset.
