TITLE: Counselor

QUALIFICATIONS:

.

1. A minimum of a Masters Degree in a field of education.
2. A minimum of three years prior job experience in teaching counseling and/or administration.
3. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Principal

JOB GOALS: To help all students develop skills in the areas of personal/social growth educational planning and career and vocational development.

Consult with students teachers and parents to identify developmental needs and design prevention or intervention activities in order to guide students on a healthy path toward adulthood.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and deliver school counseling curriculum in classroom setting when appropriate.
1. This may include but not be limited to our Safe and Drug Free Curriculum and/or Character Education
2. Assist students in the areas of academic development career development and citizenship development as well as emotional and social development.
3. Collaborate with faculty staff and parents to better understand and meet the needs of all students.
4. Provide individual and small group counseling as needed.
5. Make appropriate referrals of students and parents to outside agencies and specialists when necessary.
6. Make self a visible body in school by participating a variety of activities that contribute to the schools effectiveness.
7. Continually plan evaluate and revise the school counseling program.
8. Pursue continuous professional development and growth.
9. Promote an understanding and appreciation for diverse populations.
10. Develop review and revise a career and educational plan for each student.
11. Monitor and advise students and parents as to progress toward promotion and graduation.
12. Prepare students for transition to next level (middle to high school high school to post high school).
13. Performs any other duties as outlined by the Principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to

be established by the School Board.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
