The Village of Elk Grove is seeking a college student to participate in a summer internship program with the Elk Grove Village Police Department during the summer of 2026.
The Police Department in partnership with the community is committed to public safety through law enforcement education and exceptional service while performing with the highest level of integrity and assuring all individuals dignity and respect.
This internship is an opportunity to learn about the role of the Police Department within local government through active participation in ongoing projects and programs. The Administrative Intern will be based in the Police Department and will work under the supervision of the Police Services Administrator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create educational social media campaigns for the Police Department including short videos and/or reels.
- Assist with weekly Status and Information reports monthly Village newsletter Neighborhood Watch Newsletter and Employee Wellness Newsletter.
- Learn about the value of employee wellness by proposing and administering a wellness program.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in college and working toward an undergraduate degree.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with a team as well as independently.
- Self-motivated good time-management skills creative.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel etc.).
- Ability to work five (5) days 37.5 hours per week.
- Must provide their own transportation to and from work.
PROGRAM DATES:May 2026 August 2026
HOURS OF WORK:37.5 hours per week STARTING WAGE:$17.50 per hour
OPENING DATE:February 6 2026 CLOSING DATE:Open Until Filled
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Summer Seasonal employees will accrue one (1) hour of paid leave for every forty (40) hours worked.
