DescriptionPosition Summary:
The Development Engineer on the Gearbox is responsible for design develop and improve current and future generations of EV mechanical powertrain systems for Light vehicle / Commercial Vehicle and other applications. The responsibilities will be to develop detailed engineering specifications for gearbox components like gear shafts bearings material selection heat treatment and specific focus on micro-geometry definition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gear design and analysis skill for all helical spur and bevel gears for planetary & parallel axis gearing etc
- Hands-on-knowledge around establishment of different gear layouts right from the scratch to fit per customer requirements.
- Focused on development of new EV gearbox technologies and present the ideas in front of management write technical papers generate patents etc.
- Should have Knowledge in basics of NVH/acoustics/ Powertrain and Hands on experience in Powertrain NVH assessments.
- Experience in vibro-acoustic analysis of gearbox / powertrain systems with focus on optimizing gear macro and micro geometry bearings parameters and gear box housing will be an added advantage.
- Design for Manufacturability (assembly tolerances) design for reliability metrology/profile/geometry measurement testing & validation
- In depth knowledge of gear rating calculations using standards like ISO AGMA JIS
- Bearing selection and analysis for all types of bearings like ball cylindrical roller needle roller angular contact bearing etc. Knowledge of bearings preloading bearing life calculation using advanced methods like ISO 281.
- Hands on knowledge of gear simulation software like Kisssoft Romax Masta etc and analysis for optimum gear geometry for durability NVH and efficiency
- Understanding of CAE tools like Ansys will be added advantage
- Other skills: Basic of Mechanical design GD&T stack up analysis DFMEA 2D/3D CAD modelling
- Follow Internal processes and participate on their development.
- Following actively and continuously work on own goals.
- Accountability for design work in quality delivery & productivity aspects at project level.
- Active participation in internal and external design reviews.
- Owner of specific design initiative responsibility for their local or global deployment and functionality Examples: specific customer requirements simulation tools Design Standards & Quality etc. / for key and global activities.
Qualifications:
- University mechanical engineering degree or adequate experience in engineering.
- Min. 6 years of design experience in gearbox design and development. Preferably in automotive industry.
- Specialization in gearbox design with Masta will be added advantage
- Ability to do advanced gear calculations independently or with minimal guidance.
- Knowledge of gear manufacturing and gear quality Inspection processes.
- Ability to perform Stack-up and built assembly layouts.
- Strong analytics skills.
- Fundamental knowledge of project management and ability to follow it (E2-E3)
- Fluent in English both speaking and writing
- If applicable - Adequate local language skills for Close to customer sites
- Customer oriented approach
- Strong communication skills and team player
- Willingness to learn and positive mindset
