Student Data and Information System Coordinator

Full-Year Salaried Position

GENERAL SUMMARY:

  • Provides leadership for the pupil accounting functions across the district including data management records maintenance reporting and audits.
  • Provides guidance and support to buildings & student enrollment for data management processes in the student information system (SIS).
  • Manage District Wide Student Information System (PowerSchool)
  • Generates preliminary enrollment projections for district resource allocation.
  • Takes initiative to recommend & implement changes to improve efficiency and to increase the use of technology.
  • Works in conjunction with other department supervisors to develop implement and monitor training opportunities for building-level administrative assistants & other staff.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • STUDENT DATA INFORMATION SYSTEM (SIS)
    • Set up and maintain the entire operating system
    • Serves as the link between the districts SIS and other systems including but not limited to Meal Magic Versa Trans Testing/Assessment applications (NWEA MSTEP PSAT SAT etc.)
    • Serves as the link between the districts SIS and State of Michigan reporting sites including but not limited to MSDS CEPI EEM TSDL GAD BAA SID etc.
  • Create systems to work with staff to build capacity within the SIS and create efficiencies.
  • Utilize Angular Java Script SQL and HTML to create customized reports for staff.
    • Attends and participates in SIS training and seminars.

  • PUPIL ACCOUNTING
    • Provides leadership for the pupil accounting functions across the district including data management records maintenance reporting and audits.
    • Provides guidance and support to building-level student enrollment and data management processes into the student information system (SIS).
    • Develops and maintains expertise in reporting requirements and policies for pupil membership.
    • Facilitates and coordinates compilation and submission of district pupil accounting reports and any cyclical audits.
    • Supervises student record data entry into SIS.
    • Establishes supervises and implements student record data maintenance coding in accordance with state regulations and local district policies.
    • Serves as liaison between the district and the Intermediate School District for pupil accounting reporting including special education membership records and auditing purposes.
    • Maintains shared-time (partner programs) student information to meet funding attendance grade reporting and transportation requirements.
    • Provides pupil accounting expertise during exploration and implementation of student services offered by the district.
    • Works in conjunction with other department supervisors to develop implement and monitor training opportunities for building-level administrative assistants and other staff.
    • Monitors homebound and home-based services between schools teachers and families.
    • Attends and participates in pupil accounting training and seminars.
    • Takes initiative to recommend changes to improve efficiency and to increase the use of technology.
    • Provides general district information as requested.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITY:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science and/or previous pupil accounting/technology experience preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills to interpret data and to perform complex duties.
  • Advanced knowledge in technology and computers including office software electronic communication database systems word processing spreadsheets web-based report office equipment operations and proficiency in MS Office and Google Suites.
  • Interpersonal relations skills necessary to professionally communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through to meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Excellent organizational time management and multi-tasking skills.

OTHER:

  • Reports to the Director of Technology
  • Provides flexibility when a need arises to work from home on occasion.
