Assistant Professor of Teaching (tenure-track)

School of Nursing UBC Okanagan

The School of Nursing at the University of British Columbias Okanagan campus invites applications for two full-time faculty positions at the Assistant Professor of Teaching (tenure-track) level. The anticipated start date is July 1 2026 with the possibility of negotiation. This position is ideal for an educator-scholar who is passionate about excellence and innovation in nursing education and who commits to build a career in a collegial research-informed student-centered environment.

As an Assistant Professor of Teaching the successful candidate will have a Master of Nursing (PhD desired) or equivalent qualification andbe expected to demonstrate evidence of scholarly activity in teaching and learning. They will also need to show potential for securing competitive external funding that supports the development of scholarly activity related to teaching and learning. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach effectively across undergraduate and graduate levels in nursing and show evidence of contribution to curriculum design program delivery or educational innovation. The Successful Candidate will be required to have registration as a nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) within 3 years.

The School of Nursing is housed within the Faculty of Health and Social Development. It has over 800 undergraduate and graduate students and offers undergraduate masters and doctoral degrees in nursing. The faculty also houses schools of Social Work and Health & Exercise addition to active partnerships with our surrounding communities and Interior Health our school has international partnerships with schools in Ghana and Zambia.

The School of Nursing has a strong profile in education research and practice partnerships locally regionally and nationally. Our broad scholarly focus spans technologies for health health equity healthy environments well-being and person-centered care across the lifespan. We are committed to innovative evidence-informed teaching and learning with a curriculum design that advances health equity and person-centered care alongside collaborative interprofessional approaches to education and the fast-changing digital environment the School is committed to integrating and innovating teaching and learning particularly as we prepare to move to a new campus closer to hospitals and health services in downtown Kelowna in 2027/2028.

At the rank of Assistant Professor of Teaching the successful candidate will be reviewed for reappointment promotion and tenure in subsequent years in accordance with the Collective Agreement. Salary will be commensurate with rank experience and qualifications. All UBC positions are subject to final budgetary approval.
