The supplier engineer (SE) is responsible for providing technical leadership to the assigned suppliers and managing overall supplier quality management systems ensuring process controls are established and adhered to throughout the suppliers entire manufacturing process and supply SE engages early in product development providing drawing/design input and conducting first builds with the supplier to establish a robust repeatable quality product. The SE supports customer and factory escalations by driving supplier corrective actions.

The SE team is a supportive cross-functional team with many different skill sets and experiences lending itself to many learning opportunities from within the Applied Materials has extensive internal and external training programs offering various certifications and development opportunities tailored specifically for the engineers skill sets and goals. The highly dynamic workload is project-focused allowing the engineer to manage individual work schedules.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive systemic supplier performance improvement plans and projects for reducing quality defects and improve suppliers capability.
  • Drive SPC compliance and improvement projects to reduce out of control conditions.
  • Conduct process and part audits at supplier sites part to print verification quality management system review root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Become substantively involved in New Product reviews to improve producibility and manufacturability in the product development phase.
  • Participate in and drive technical sourcing decisions based on supplier capability and product attributes.
  • Train and develop suppliers to comply with Applieds quality methodologies 8D responding to non-conformances change management controls failure analysis.
  • Proliferate key learnings and BKMs into the supply base.
  • Prepare and present executive summaries on supplier capabilitiescustomer and factory escalations.

Qualifications & Preferences

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Machining Electro-mechanical assembly or electrical components such as PCB Box Builds Cable & Harness. Experience with GD&T or IPC standards.

  • Familiar with IPC Standards
  • Well versed in quality management systems and methodologies.
  • Value Stream Mapping
  • Creative problem solving
  • Manufacturing/machining process development and qualification
  • Program/project management
  • Sound knowledge of GD&T and Engineering Drawing Interpretation
  • Design of Experiments statistical process control methods and theory
  • PFMEA
  • Knowledge of Metrology design and Optical/Contact Measurement Equipment
  • Understanding the broad scope of a factorys methods and processes: material control inspection/QC cleaning 5S tool crib tool life management detailing packaging.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and JMP
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong team player

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location hire grade job-related knowledge skills experience and with consideration of internal equity of our current team addition to a comprehensive benefits package candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program as applicable.

For all sales roles the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
