DescriptionPosition Overview:
The Liaison for International Students will provide dedicated support to Chinese students from Sichuan Film and Television University (SFU) who are completing their senior year at Greensboro College majoring in Digital and Media Arts. This position focuses on student acclimation academic support and cultural adjustment while also assisting in the Arts and Marketing departments.
Stipend and Benefits:
- $1500 per month
- Private room accommodation
- 19 meals per week in the college dining hall
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Support & Campus Acclimation (Approximately 5-10 hours per week
- Assist all international students with orientation to Greensboro College including academic expectations campus resources and cultural adaptation.
- Provide guidance on classroom expectations coursework and communication with faculty for all international students.
- Offer after-hours support for student concerns well-being check-ins and assistance with navigating life in the U.S. for all international students
- Supervise all international students during academic breaks as needed.
- Serve as a point of contact for questions and challenges all international students may face throughout the year.
Academic Assistance - SFU & Arts Department (Approximately 10-14 hours per week
- Act as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for Digital and Media Arts courses.
- Assist professors with classroom instruction materials preparation and in-class support.
- Provide one-on-one tutoring and guidance for SFU students on assignments projects and artistic techniques.
- Help facilitate workshops discussions and collaborative projects to enhance SFU student learning
Marketing and Media Support (Approximately 5 hours per week)
- Support the Marketing Department with photography and videography at special campus events.
- Assist in creating promotional videos and digital content showcasing student experiences and Greensboro College initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with staff and students to capture campus life and international engagement.
QualificationsQualifications & Skills Required:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in international education digital/media arts communications or a related field.
- Strong cross-cultural communication skills with sensitivity to the needs of international students.
- Experience working with Chinese students or familiarity with Chinese culture.
- Ability to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred:
- Experience in academic support student affairs or international student services.
- Background in digital media photography or video production.
- Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
Work Environment & Expectations
- The Liaison will be expected to engage regularly with students outside of class hours and provide consistent support throughout the academic year.
- This position requires adaptability cultural awareness and a strong commitment to student success.
