Salary Range:

$8500.00 upon completion of all responsibilities

Assignment:

The Summer School Elementary Principal will work as part of the summer administrative team with primary responsibilities for the ALCDSB summer literacy and numeracy camps. This is a 3-week full day Literacy and Numeracy Summer School program for students entering Grades One and addition the Summer School Elementary Principal will help supervise the Grade 7-8 Literacy and Numeracy program. The program will run subject to a minimum enrolment of 15 students per class.

This position involves a good deal of preparation in the spring prior to the commencement of summer school in addition to regular school duties. Note that dates and locations are subject to change.

* This position is dependent on Ministry funding and program enrolment.

Qualifications :

  • Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  • Currently hold Principals Qualifications Part 1 & 2
  • Religious Education Part 1 & 2
Desired Assets:
  • Aspiring Catholic Leadership Part 1 & Part 2
  • Special Education Part 1 & 2
  • SEA for Administrators AQ
  • Participated in System level committees/projects

Major Responsibilities

  • Prepare for the ALCDSB Literacy and Numeracy Summer School including communicating information to schools about the program training staff assisting schools in selecting students working with schools to arrange classroom space and use of literacy resources ordering needed classroom resources contacting parents (April-June 2026)
  • Prepare for and oversee the 7/8 numeracy/literacy program.
  • Participation in the selection of staff and students for all programs
  • Supervise staff and students for the duration of Literacy and Numeracy Summer Schools
  • Supervise Recreation Assistants in the program
  • Supervise Focus on Youth recreation assistants
  • Monitor student attendance
  • Work with staff to communicate student progress to parents and schools
  • Complete all necessary budgeting and reporting requirements to the Superintendent of School Effectiveness
  • Coordinate a recreation component of the program with community partners where appropriate
  • Regularly visit all sites
  • Work as part of the Summer Administrative team supporting all programs
  • Report to the Board of Trustees about the program in Fall of 2026
