Job Summary

Quality Staffing Inc. also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search a leading full-service employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the areas top companies is looking for an experienced Audit Seniorto work through our agency as a contract employee with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TN DOT)located in Nashville TN. This is a hybrid position working three (3) days per week (typically Monday through Wednesday) from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The pay rate for this position is $89.00 per hour. **MUST BE LOCAL TO THE NASHVILLE AREA**

Audit Senior Key Job Responsibilities will include:
  • Engagement Execution (GAGAS/Yellow Book):Planning and performing walkthroughs controlling design evaluations; control and substantive testing and evidence collection which meet GAGAS requirements for sufficiency appropriateness supervision and documentation.
  • Workstream Leadership:Leading assigned audit workstreams or smaller engagements end-to-end; managing milestones PBC requests and daily coordination with process owners; escalating blockers early.
  • Risk & Controls:Developing process flow narratives risk and control matrices (RCMs) and testing strategies aligned to COSO; identifying root causes and recommending pragmatic corrective actions.
  • Reporting & Communication:Drafting clear findings (criteria condition cause effect recommendation) risk ratings and management action plans; contributing to entrance/exit meetings and GAGAS aligned audit reports (objectives scope methodology criteria findings conclusions management views).
  • Issue Validation & Follow-Up:Verifying remediation performing retesting and documenting closure consistent with TDOT standards.
  • Data Analytics & Tools:Using Excel/Power BI and audit analytics (e.g. ACL/IDEA) to enhance coverage sampling stratification and anomaly detection; maintaining complete review-ready work papers in audit software.
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement:Applying TDOT templates and quality control procedures; contributing lessons learned and template/process improvements.
  • Governance & Independence:Maintaining independence and ethics consistent with GAGAS; promptly disclosing and addressing threats to independence; maintaining required CPE per GAGAS.

Qualifications for Audit Senior position:
Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or a related field.
  • Advanced coursework or certifications in auditing risk management or data analytics is a plus.
Professional Experience:
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in internal audit with demonstrated ability to lead audit workstreams or smaller engagements end-to-end ensuring timely and high-quality results.
  • Experience in risk assessment control evaluation and report drafting aligned with GAGAS standards.
  • Proven ability to coach junior auditors and contribute to team development.
Certifications:
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) strongly preferred.
  • Additional certifications beneficial: Certified Information systems Auditor (CISA) Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Forensic Accountant (CrFA).
Standards & Methodology Expertise:
  • Solid understanding of Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS/Yellow Book) and IIA IPPF standards.
  • Familiarity with COSO internal control framework and government compliance requirements.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in electronic work paper systems and audit management software such as Diligent including workflow management version control and secure documentation.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft 365 tools (SharePoint Teams).
  • Experience using audit analytics tools (e.g. ACL IDEA) for sampling stratification and anomaly detection.
Core Competencies:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting findings and engaging stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements while maintaining independence and professional ethics.
